L’atelier is not only home to the iconic flower-lined balcony looking out over Calle Carmen Alto but serves brilliant coffee and tasty cakes in their cosy café. Alongside food and drink, you can also shop art, textiles, jewellery and more handcrafted by local artists.
Just note this is a smaller café and a popular tourist spot, but don’t let that put you off. It’s popular for a reason, the views really are beautiful and it’s a lovely space to admire the work of local artists and craftspeople. Just try to get there early for the best chance of grabbing the balcony seats!

The most creative and inspiring coffee shop in Cusco has to be Xapiri. This beautifully curated space is a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the city with calming rooms showcasing indigenous local art.
Their mission is to help raise awareness of the indigenous people of the Peruvian Amazon and the role art plays in their community. With that in mind, they act as a non-profit donating the proceeds from art and coffee shop sales back to the communities at their heart. So you know grabbing an afternoon cappuccino here is not only going to be relaxing, but actually support indigenous communities too.
It’s worth noting – they’re also famous for their cacao so why not try a cup alongside your usual coffee!
