But the good news is – you don’t have to sacrifice all your spending money on a good night’s sleep.

I’ve rounded up 12 of the best cheap(ish) hotels in London that feel boutique without the price tag – each one under £150 a night. The hotel itself is set in a modern building with super spacious rooms featuring cinema themed designs. There’s also an on-site restaurant for breakfasts and dinner as well as an outdoor terrace for sipping a glass of wine after a long day of exploring!

Overall, as this is an ibis you know what you’re getting – the quality is good, the facilities are spotless and you can count on decent service all for less than £100 per night.

2. Kensington Gardens Hotel

If you’d rather stay more central, then Kensington Gardens Hotel is a great choice just a stone’s throw away from Hyde Park and Notting Hill. Here you’ll find a historic building on an iconic square that’s been turned into an independent hotel with a whole lot of period charm. As you can see from the photo above, lots of the rooms still have their original fire places as well as views out onto the garden in the centre of the square.

While the rest of the decor may be simple, I often find it makes for a cleaner and fresher space and that’s exactly what you’ll find here. Simple rooms executed perfectly with fantastic access to the best of London. Just note, there’s no restaurant or breakfast facilities here, but with so many delicious spots in London, it’s just an excuse to try more food!

3. W12 Rooms

As the most affordable hotel in the list, if sticking to a tighter budget is your main priority then W12 Rooms is the one. While it may have the lowest price per night, it’s certainly no less comfortable or luxurious. The rooms here are spacious, beautifully designed and meticulously clean.

Plus, the location is excellent. Sat in the centre of Shepherd’s Bush you have easy access to Notting Hill, Hammersmith and Holland Park while the heart of London is only a short tube ride away!

4. Novotel London Canary Wharf

If you’re after a hotel with more extensive facilities, then choose Novotel London Canary Wharf. In this stylish and modern hotel you’ll not only find comfy rooms but a rooftop bar, indoor swimming pool, fitness centre and restaurant. So whether you want to grab an easy dinner, catch sunset with a cocktail or get a quick work out in, you can do it all without stepping outside the hotel.

The location in Canary Wharf is also ideal if you want to explore more of East London with picturesque sights like Greenwich on your doorstep. And of course, as this is a Novotel, you can expect a certain level of quality and care that comes with the bigger chain hotels!

5. Best Western Kensington Olympia

• Google review score: 3.7 / 5 (this is lower due to older reviews left before their recent renovation of the hotel)

Now don’t be fooled by the Google review for this hotel, as you can see on Booking.com, the new owners have certainly turned things around and Best Western Kensington Olympia is getting lots of rave reviews. So while we wait for their Google review score to catch up, I wanted to shout about this underrated hotel offering brand new rooms with super comfy furnishings at great prices.

When it comes to location, if you want to visit the city’s best museums and soak up the Chelsea culture then Kensington Olympia is perfect. This hotel may not have a restaurant but honestly you won’t need it. Some of my favourite restaurants and breakfast spots are around Kensington and you’re spoilt for choice for tasty treats!

6. The Tommyfield Hotel

For the most artistic hotel with historic roots, choose The Tommyfield which got it’s name from a 19th-century market that was home to Britain’s first fish and chip shop.
